CodeGuard Launches SQL Server Backup Service

SQL Server has the largest number of licensed instances in the commercial database market, and announced on March 7, 2016 the release of SQL Server for Linux, which means that Linux-bound customers looking for a commercial-quality database backed by a major vendor have options other than Oracle or instances of Windows Server.

Company’s solution uses the same underlying Microsoft APIs that SQL Server Management Studio (Microsoft SSMS) uses, but wrapped in a service to make them more robust and more responsive to some of the diverse methods developers and hosting providers use when deploying SQL Server. A TSQL ‘script’ is generated, just like SSMS, and saved to company’s differential and incremental storage system. Done daily, each additional backup only requires storage of the changes that occurred on that day (usually much smaller than the rest of the database).
