Integrated with the company’s Unified Data Protection (UDP) appliance, Arcserve Cloud empowers organizations to complete their data protection strategy with a means to achieve DR and BC. It adds a option for company’s MSPs to extend their data protection solution portfolio.

As organizations increasingly turn to the cloud, they now have the opportunity to streamline their entire data management approach with Arcserve’s comprehensive UDP platform,” said Mike Crest, CEO, Arcserve. “In one, simple and modern pane of glass, end users get the choice and flexibility they need to manage the scope of their environment – whether it be virtual, cloud, or physical – while also efficiently and effectively addressing their current and future data protection needs.

The Arcserve Cloud will be offered as a service extension to UDP Appliance, which supports physical to physical, physical to virtual, and virtual to virtual.

Encompassing global deduplication, encryption, compression, and WAN-optimized replication, the benefits of the cloud service go beyond critical data asset protection to offer advanced recovery capabilities such as:

  • DR as a Service: The ability to store valuable business data for DR without the cost and maintenance of dedicated hardware, racking, power, and IT resources or maintaining another third-party contract. Users may also spin up a VM in the Arcserve Cloud for fast failover and failback.

  • Offsite data retention: Cloud storage for long-term storage instead of maintaining local magnetic media or leveraging a third party to meet compliance requirements.

  • DR testing: The ability to easily test application failover at any time without expensive infrastructure, thereby ensuring data recovery plan efficiency and accuracy.

Turnkey backup appliances make sense for organizations of all sizes, with ESG research showing that 80% of organizations are either using or planning to use them within their data protection infrastructure,” said Jason Buffington, senior analyst, data protection, ESG. “In addition, most (88%) organizations consider cloud-extensibility of their backup appliances to be either important or critical, so it makes great sense for Arcserve to launch its cloud service as a complement to its UDP platform. Best of all, considering the sentiment ‘Why BaaS when you can DRaaS,’ Arcserve’s DRaaS offering should appeal to many organizations that know that they need better IT resiliency than they have today – particularly SMBs and midsized organizations.

Partners in the Arcserve MSP program can also leverage the Arcserve cloud service.

Building on our new Partner Program, the Arcserve cloud provides a new way for partners to extend their service portfolio and offer DRaaS,” said Christophe Bertrand, VP, product marketing management, Arcserve. “While adding a bottom- and top-line growth opportunity, they are able to help their customers achieve Assured Recovery and overall BC.

Today’s virtualized computing environments are more complex than ever before,” said Dan Kusnetzky, analyst and founder, Kusnetzky Group LLC. “An approach to assuring data continuity is a must. Arcserve’s cloud service touches on the key requirements of offering a comprehensive way to assure data availability, and is easy to use and reduces or eliminates concerns about data loss.

To accelerate deployment and protection of their critical data, organizations have the option to copy data to a portable USB drive and then mail the drive to the Arcserve Cloud via a Jumpstart Courier Service. Built with Unified Data Protection Recovery Point Server (RPS) replication technologies, organizations can be assured their data is always secure. Data is protected with encryption end-to-end, at the source, in flight and in the cloud, using 256-bit AES encryption for your peace of mind.
