Accusoft Gets Paper Documents Into Cloud Storage Google Docs and Dropbox

Combining ImageGear SDK and EMC Captiva cloud toolkit

Accusoft Corporation announces the availability of Cloud Scan, an easy-to-use online service for scanning documents directly to cloud storage services.

The debut of this service opens the door to a range of potential applications and implementations. Consumers may use the free site to conveniently digitize their paper documents and archive them in cloud storage. Scanner and printer manufacturers can tap into Cloud Scan’s technology to create custom scan and storage services for their customers. Businesses both large and small can reduce paper in their operations and take advantage of the efficiency and security offered by cloud repositories.

Most tools available for scanning to the cloud require downloading an app, plug-in or other external software to be installed on the user’s device, undermining the tool’s convenience and possibly preventing the tool from functioning on unsupported devices. Cloud Scan relies upon sotware the user has already installed if using a scanner from most major manufacturers, making setup a breeze.

Cloud Scan is built on the combined imaging expertise of two industry companies: Accusoft and EMC Corporation. Cloud Scan derives its functionality from the application of two software development kits (SDKs):

Accusoft’s ImageGear SDK enables developers to add an array of imaging functions to applications, such as the power to view and edit more than 100 image file types including TIF, JPEG, PDF, CAD and many more.

EMC Captiva Cloud toolkit empowers web developers to make document scanning as easy as printing in any web browser, without the need to download a component such as an ActiveX plug-in.
