Norwegian Power System Operator Statnett Entrusts Proact
With NOK20 million contract for backup delivery solution based on technology from Cohesity and Cisco
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 4, 2020 at 2:10 pmProact IT Group AB will deliver a backup solution to Statnett, the system operator of the Norwegian power system, a critical part of the country’s infrastructure.

The contract is worth around NOK20 million.
In a digital world, few organisations in Norway operate a more critical infrastructure than Statnett. Downtime would have enormous consequences for all parts of Norwegian society. Therefore Statnett began to look for a partner that could deliver a multi-site backup solution with DR. It also wanted a solution that could be automated to ensure efficiency.
Proact suggested a solution with performance; one that enables a minimal restoration time if something were to happen. After a very security and vulnerability analysis to qualify the right partner, the vendor was selected as that provider.
The contract has a value of approximately NOK20 million and includes an initial solution delivery plus implementation, maintenance and consultancy.
“The solution is based on technology from Cohesity and Cisco. The restore performance is high – in addition to offering the possibility to boot from the backup itself. This will ensure a minimum of downtime. Critical data and applications will be up and running very fast. The solution is designed to scale and will be replicated on multiple locations in order to secure redundancy,” says MD, Ellen Grasbakken, Proact. “We are very satisfied to have been entrusted by a customer with such vital public responsibility.”
“We have high confidence in the technical solution, the architecture and the competency that we can access through Proact. We now have a solution that will secure our data in the years to,” says project manager, Rajesh Gupta, Statnett.
