Computex: EchoStreams FlacheSAN2N12C-D5 2U NVMe Appliance Powered With Kingston SSD and Liqid

24xPCIe X4 NVMe U.2 SSDs or 12xhot-swap PCIe X8 low-profile NVMe AICs, up to 6xPCIe X16 PCIe expansion slots, supporting 12 million IO/s, up to 60-70GB/s

EchoStreams Innovative Solutions LLC. announced the availability of its FlacheSAN2N, a 2U NVMe with high density and serviceability.

Debuting at Computex 2017, the FlacheSAN2N platform offers a solution for a range of use cases, from artificial intelligence and edge computing to graphically intensive military deployments in harsh conditions and media-heavy entertainment implementations.

Rapid advances in technologies such as NVMe often leave a gap between the capabilities of the technology versus industry specification around hot-swappable form-factors,” said Gene Lee, president, EchoStreams. “While providing the industry’s highest sustained R/W performance in a 2U configuration, the FlacheSAN2N platform also eliminates the serviceability trade-off customers face, allowing for rapid deployment and servicing of proven current generation NVMe and PCIe AIC products.

The FlacheSAN2N series presents a solution to the increasing need for performance and flexibility across the most demanding, data-intensive workloads and applications. Featuring twelve hot-swappable PCIe carriers, enterprise and government customers can now run more parallel workloads across servers and racks, while easily servicing critical hardware resources in military, scientific and media and entertainment applications.

FlacheSAN2N24U-D5 for 24xU.2 and FlacheSAN2N12C-D5 for 12x AIC version

  • Capable of supporting ~12 million IO/s, up to 60~70GB/s of bandwidth (based on 1 million IO/s and 5.5~6GB/s throughput per AIC, each Mellanox 100G NIC can sustain 2 million IO/s)

  • Support Intel Corp. Grantley/Purley platforms with dual processors

  • DDR4 RAM and NVDIMM support

  • 24xPCIe X4 NVMe U.2 SSDs or 12xhot-swap PCIe X8 low-profile NVMe AICs

  • Up to 6xPCIe X16 PCIe expansion slots for network adapters supporting up to 672Gbps of network IO bandwidth (6xEDR IB @112Gb/s/ea)

  • Symmetrically-balanced architecture with each CPU managing half the NVMe devices and half the network adapters

  • Can support up to 2xGPGPU cards plus 2x100G NIC or up to 6x100G NICs

  • GPUs and NICs are both connected to NVMe SSDs via PCIe switch for low-latency design (supporting RDMA/RoCE/iWARP)

  • Four quick-swap 80x38mm high-pressure PWM fans

  • 1,000~2,000W Platinum-grade redundant PSU options

EchoStreams is a proven leader in the ongoing evolution of the NVMe ecosystem. We are proud to work with them to deliver solutions that enable customers to meet their capacity and throughput requirements without having to give up hot-swap capabilities in compute environments where total serviceability and security are must-haves,” said Ariel Perez, manager, SSD business, Kingston Digital Inc., provider in memory products and EchoStreams OEM solutions partner. “The Kingston portfolio of NVMe products are designed specifically to take full advantage of PCIe for both HHHL and the newer 2.5” 2U footprint. The 2.5” U.2 PCIe redefines what can be accomplished via the intelligent integration of the form factor, helping make the FlacheSAN series a complete 2U solution that is demonstrably greater than the sum of its parts.

The Liqid-powered Kingston DCP1000 delivers upwards of 6GB/s of data throughput per low-profile AIC, while the 2.5″ U.2 fully saturates the Gen3 x4 data pipeline, accelerating the FlacheSAN2N server platform to be the industry’s most powerful solution in its category,” said Marius Tudor, VP, sales and business development, Liqid Inc., provider of composable infrastructure solutions and Kingston partner. “EchoStreams empowers partners and clients to build smarter compute ecosystems that meet their datacenter, mobile or field requirements with the highest performance NVMe-based platforms.
