Hitachi Solutions Expands Offering With Actifio Enterprise Data-as-a-Service

Actifio, Inc. announced a partnership with Hitachi Solutions Ltd to allow customers to modernize their data protection and DR strategies cost effectively.

With Actifio, Hitachi Solutions expands its solution offerings to protect data with Actifio CDS, the physical appliance product, and Actifio Sky, a virtual appliance product.

Actifio CDS and Actifio Sky reduce data volume by creating a single copy of data available for instant access and use, and frees application data from underlying infrastructure. This makes it possible for companies to access their data as a service and reduce the cost of system installation such as storage, which was previously increasing due to data inflation. Combining Actifio products with Hitachi Solutions’ consulting services based on the construction of large-scale IT infrastructure and operations will reduce total infrastructure investment costs by 40%, according to Hitachi Solutions.

In recent years, the emergence of hybrid clouds and advances in server virtualization has meant infrastructure environments are becoming more complicated and the operational burden of the systems management department has increased for most enterprises.

Opportunities to copy the same data in different environments is increasing, as organizations cautiously construct DR sites. They’re creating development testing and analysis using DevOps, and developing efficient data replication. For this reason, the amount of data continues to multiply, which coincidingly increases the cost and causes issues for introducing new systems, such as investment in storage or licensing opportunities.

Features of Actifio solutions:

• Integrated management of copy data virtualization, reducing system installation cost: By only capturing the differences of managed data from the production environment and managing the virtual copy data with its own deduplication and data compression function, it reduces storage unsafe for backup while also reducing system installation cost.
• Quickly build DR sites and DevOps environments at low cost: Maintaining the copy data in the virtual environment and eliminating the need to migrate to physical storage makes it possible to quickly transfer data, and develop DR suites and DevOps environments at low costs. About the future
Hitachi Solutions will take advantage of the experience of building a company’s IT infrastructure and will work on implementing consulting and system construction. In the next three years, the company will aim for sales of ¥5 billion yen (almost $45 million) including related solutions.
