NAB: Thunderpack Mini Portable RAID Up to 40TB by Acromove

Partnering with The DIT House for rentals, Osnexus for data migration, and Ahead.IO for virtual reality production

Acromove Inc., formerly Motion FX, announced the Thunderpack Mini portable RAID storage system destined to become the industry standard for location productions.

ThunderPack Mini is built using lightweight materials including aircraft-grade aluminum and carbon fiber elements. The unit is self-contained in an IP67-rated watertight, dust proof Pelican case that can be stowed in an overhead airline bin. It uses a power management system with built-in Li-ion battery array that serves as an UPS and can power the unit up to six hours, as well as operate an external LTO drive. There is a 12-22V connector so it can be powered by external battery packs and an optional solar panel.

Its shockproof and patented disk pod holds eight 2.5″ HDDs or SSDs impervious to shock and vibration.

Capacity is up to 40TB.

The ServerPack is an hyperconverged software-defined system that combines portable storage, compute, networking and virtualization technologies in one physical unit that is managed as a single system. It can include wireless and GPS capabilities, and is OS and software application agnostic allowing customers to deploy it in virtually any environment. Together with the OSNEXUS Corporation‘s QuantaStor SDS Data Migration Edition it is for on-site digital production or content distribution.

Ahead.IO has developed an advanced VR imaging and review system called Cezanne that uses the power of ThunderPack combined with an nVidia GPU to simplify VR production on location. This company demonstrated their system in the Acromove booth at the NAB show.

Acromove’s products are available for rent in the Los Angeles area from The DIT House.
