NAB: Platform Workflow Servers With 3D NAND SSD From Promax

ProMAX Systems, Inc. has released a lineup of Platform Workflow Servers focused on performance – 4K and higher – finishing workflows.

These systems, based on 3D NAND SSD technology offer massive performance combined with high capacity storage for image sequence workflows in the media creation space.

“Collaborative Finishing Workflows for 4K DPX or other image sequences are particularly difficult to handle in a shared storage environment” said Jess Hartmann, CEO, ProMAX. “Each of these video streams requires over 800MB/s throughput to each workstation. When you have multiple artists pulling these kinds of streams at the same time, traditional Shared Storage systems just can’t keep up. But with our new Platform Online SSD systems, we can deliver up to four streams, or 3.2GB/s, to a team of content creators“.

The Platform Online SSD product line starts at 32, 48 or 64TB and can be used in conjunction with standard disk Platform servers to create an unmatched multi-tier multi-node workflow system. These systems are integrated workflow servers allowing companies to offload CPU intensive work like proxy generation, rendering, transcoding. They also provide data management capabilities, like backup and replication, all built into a browser-based interface.

The Platform Online SSD was designed as an add on product to the existing company’s Platform Online workflow servers. Managed to together through a simple to use browser interface, users can move projects from online to online SSD for finishing with a simple click request.

The Platform Online SSD model line is available and shipping as of April 24, 2017.
