CalDigit Opens Pre-Order for Portable VR mini 2 RAID

CalDigit, Inc. announced that the VR mini 2 portable RAID storage solution for creative professionals will be shipping on September 29th 2014, and is available for pre-order now.

It’s the successor to the original VR mini that brought RAID protection to location based workflows. It features USB 3.0 connectivity.

It allows users the flexibility of utilizing RAID protection wherever they are. The original VR mini was used by film crews and photographers around the world in locations where a portable RAID device was needed to keep secure file backups.

It supports RAID-0, 1 and JBOD. RAID-0 gives users the best possible performance. RAID-1 gives users two automatic backups of their data, and JBOD allows for two independent disks.

Featuring USB 3.0, and dual Firewire 800 interfaces, it gives users flexible connectivity options. The two removable drive modules on the back allow users to upgrade and expand their storage. Compatible with both Mac and PC, it is available in capacities of 2TB.

Built from 100% recyclable aluminum, it is a robust device from fit to finish. Featuring a front facing LCD screen that allows users to monitor and configure the device without the need of any software.

Pricing for the 2TB VR mini 2 starts at $449 MSRP in the US, £334.80 (inc. VAT) in the UK, and €418.80 (inc. VAT) in Europe.
