Seagate Delivers Five NAS for Small Businesses

From $299 (2TB) up to $2,500 (30TB)

Seagate Technology plc announced a portfolio of NAS solutions designed for small businesses.

Seagate

The portfolio includes five NAS products in a range of capacities from 2TB to 30TB and performance suited for the home office to small businesses with up to 50 employees. The Seagate NAS and NAS Pro lines set the standard for ease-of-use by introducing a new OS, NAS OS 4, together with hardware designed for small businesses without dedicated IT resources.

Storage is a must have for businesses of today regardless of their size or industry. So much of what businesses do is now stored in a digital format, but at the same time storage is an area that may not be top of mind for many small business professionals. The irony is that smart storage is so essential to their growth,” said Ramon Ray, SmallBizTechnology. “It is good to see a company like Seagate taking the guess work out of network storage solutions and making it easy to set up and manage for a small business without dedicated IT staff.

User Interface
Businesses depend on their documents and data accessibility to sustain and grow their business. The company provides the tools that a growing business needs to ensure their data is secure and always available. Building on the success of its OS, the business debuts the next generation with NAS OS 4. With a redesigned device manager, users can manage preferences and configure settings from a single location. It also includes the most demanded features by our customers including App Manager and Seagate Sdrive for remote access. Designed to be up and running without dedicated IT support, it helps small businesses stay organized and focused. The NAS device management is effortless from a desktop, laptop, tablet, or even a smartphone. The OS is designed to keep projects secure and always available.

Hardware, Software and Support by Seagate
All products in the NAS portfolio are wholly developed and supported by Seagate, which ensures a level of expertise that is not delivered when customers are required to source individual components. Each NAS is populated with Seagate’s NAS HDD drives in capacities up to 5TB. The HDDs are designed for network storage applications, and are equipped with advanced vibration tolerance and management capabilities, offering enhanced reliability compared to standard desktop HDDs. In addition, the company tests every product before being shipped, and backs them with an expert in-house tech support team.

Remote Access Via Private Cloud
NAS and NAS Pro provide access to files by creating a private cloud, also enabling access to files from a centralized location, while providing shared access for clients and partners through Seagate Sdrive software – a private cloud that resides on Seagate NAS. With Sdrive, access to your private cloud is as seamless and intuitive as saving files to an external drive. Files on Sdrive are also accessible from a smartphone or tablet with free mobile apps.

We understand that today’s small businesses can benefit from a storage solution that is easy to manage and provides 24/7 secure access to the information that drives their businesses,” said Scott Horn, VP of global marketing, Seagate. “From the individual contractor to the fifty-employee office, Seagate has the right product to match the needs of any size of small- to medium-sized business.

App Manager
Another feature is support for add-on apps from both Seagate and third parties. The NAS and NAS Pro will come equipped with five apps at launch and more will be added in the future.

  • Seagate Antivirus: an app that scans the files stored on the NAS to help safeguard against viruses and malware

  • Seagate Surveillance Manager: compatible with thousands of models of IP cameras, offering event and schedule-based recording and mobile apps for remote viewing

  • WordPress: a free open-source publishing platform with design features, which allows one to easily create a blog

  • Own Cloud: an app that provides universal access to one’s files via the web, a computer or from mobile devices from locations outside of the network

  • BitTorrent Sync: a tool to enable synching and sharing of unlimited files and folders across all trusted devices

Seagate NAS
Both NAS and NAS Pro are available worldwide. NAS business storage is available in 2- and 4-bay configurations. With a Marvell Dual core 1.2GHz processor and 512MB of RAM, it is designed to address the storage needs of small office and home offices with up to 25 employees. It is available from NewEgg, Amazon and Seagate.com for an MSRP of $299.99 for the two-bay 2TB to $649.99 for the two-bay 10TB version.

The four-bay configuration ranges from an MSRP of $599 for 4TB to 1,499.99 for 20TB.

Seagate NAS Pro
It is one of the first products to debut Intel’s latest dual-core 1.7GHz C2000 Series processor, which is designed to perform well in multi-user and multi-dimensional environments. It delivers enough bandwidth to support fast and frequent file sharing between employees, as well as multiple applications running simultaneously.

The NAS Pro range includes two-, four- and six-bay models from 2TB for an MSRP of $399.99 USD to 30TB capacities for $2,499.99. Outfitted with an Intel dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM, the NAS Pro delivers performance expected in a small office environment made up of 50 employees.
