Designed to provide mobile access anytime, anywhere and the ability to share files with any Internet-connected device without requiring data uploads to a cloud environment, it is the a storage service that doesn’t rely solely on the cloud to provide file sharing that works across devices.

Given our long experience in building consumer-friendly offerings and the key role that storage plays within Toshiba’s heritage, we’ve been able to design a storage solution that addresses consumers’ need to access their content on every single one of their devices, at any given time and location, and offers more comprehensive functionality than what’s currently available,” said Dang Nguyen, brand manager, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. digital products division. “Storage Place is a critical piece of Toshiba’s emerging cloud strategy that includes other content hubs, including Book Place and Travel Place, and showcases our commitment to helping consumers take control of their own digital content.

Store, Share and Access Content Anytime and Anywhere, Across Devices
Offering remote access anytime, anywhere, across devices, including iOS, Android and Windows 8, it enables peer-to-peer file access and supports multiple device installations for remote access. It provides consumers with both cloud and local file storage and sync capabilities, eliminating the need for syncing to the cloud, because consumers’ personal computers act as their servers. All users will start with 10GB of free cloud storage.

Digital consumers have content stored across multiple devices and networks, and often have difficulty finding, accessing and sharing files. This eliminates that issue, as consumers are granted control of and access to their digital files and permitted mobile access to their digital world. They are able to stream their music libraries, share photos directly with family and post to their Facebook pages.

Additionally, it permits large file linking and sharing with recipients beyond the network, removing the need for an account to view and download content from other users.

Available, new users of Storage Place will receive 10GB of free, trial cloud storage for a 30-day time period. After the trial period, users can subscribe to the service for $39.99 per year.
