Cleversafe Partnership and Initiatives Simplify Object Storage Deployment

Cleversafe, Inc. announced partnerships and initiatives that provide businesses with greater flexibility to help simplify the deployment and integration of object-based storage into their existing environments.

Hardware and interface options and software features are designed to provide companies with greater options to help solve web-scale storage challenges.

Cleversafe expands hardware options with HP
The company has certified the HP ProLiant SL4540 Generation 8 server as a Slicestor appliance. It has also certified the Dispersed Storage Network (dsNet) Manager and Accesser on the ProLiant DL360p Gen8 server. 

dsNet technology with HP servers simplifies the management of large scale data repositories and provides the availability and reliability required to handle customers’ digital assets. The combined platform delivers a solution that is optimized for web-scale storage, reducing cost in time and resources to put a solution into service. The integrated dsNet Manager and Accesser solutions for HP servers also simplify system deployment and configuration while expediting the integration of applications and workloads with object storage.

Cleversafe enhances software capabilities with ClevOS 3.2
ClevOS 3.2, enhances the flexibility and capabilities of the dsNet system to ensure customers’ object-based storage implementations are able to meet their business needs.  

It adds the ability for a customer’s preferred monitoring application to access the dsNet statistics used by dsNet Manager, via SNMP or a RESTful http interface. It also integrates with syslog, the industry standard for computer message logging, providing businesses with greater flexibility around system monitoring. To help customers who have an IT policy that requires the separation of network traffic related to different functions, It provides a network traffic management capability that allows traffic for each dsNet appliance to be routed on up to three separate networks.

In addition to expanded system monitoring and management capabilities, the OS expands upon existing support for Active Directory by adding support for LDAP directory services. With more options for integrated directory services, It simplifies the user authentication process on both the dsNet Manager and dsNet vaults containing customer data.

Cleversafe simplifies cloud integration with standard interfaces
The company has added an OpenStack Swift compatible API to its list of supported APIs, which also includes Amazon S3, HDFS and a Cleversafe specific Simple Object API. Support for OpenStack Swift, S3 and HDFS increases compatibility with existing storage applications and allows customers developing their own storage application the option of using the object API that meets their specific business requirements.
