Sans Digital Enables Hardware Data Encryption on Selected EliteSTOR and EliteNAS
AES-128 and AES-256 available as free standard features
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 21, 2014 at 2:47 pmSans Digital, Inc. announced the selected EliteSTOR models (EliteSTOR High Performance Bundled with controller card), EliteNAS (EliteNAS model with 16 bay or up) and selected RAID controller accessories are hardware encryption ready with AES-128 or AES-256.
IT admin or customer who would like to encrypt their data, can create encrypted data volume when they initial the systems. This feature is included with the systems without additional charge. To initialize the encrypted volume, users will provide their own ‘key’ files to initialize. Once the encrypted data volume is initialized, the storage systems will provide read and write data access to host computer when the same key files are presented. Without the file, data is not readable or scrambled to prevent unauthorized access. In the event of the units are stolen, or HDDs fall into an unauthorized personnel, data theft will not be able to get your data because they do not have the key file.
Encrypted volume can be co-exist with non-encrypted volume in the same unit. This encrypted NAS solution is hardware based, and do not comprise performance, while allow data sharing in network environment in clustered, redundant environment. The company offers encrypted DAS for performance hungry environment, provides up to 1.5GB/s performance using SAS expander. With other standard features, such as web-based, OS-independent GUI, online RAID expansion and migration, and support up to 120 drives, or 480TB in a single channel, the encryption solution will be a solution for financial, government and military application with high security environment.
Features:
- Included with selected EliteSTOR high performance bundle, EliteNAS 16 bay or up and selected RAID controller.
- No software encryption. Hardware RAID engines to process encrypted request without performance degrade.
- Setup in minutes.
- Supported AES-128 or AES-256 encryption algorithms.
- Supported in NAS or iSCSI SAN (NAS + iSCSI for EliteNAS) or DAS (DAS, EliteSTOR) environment.
- Co-exist with non-encrypted volume for flexible deployment.
- Protect Data Against Unauthorized Access
- Easy to implement: Set it up when initialize the data volume.
- Only authorized personnel have ‘key’ file can unlock the encrypted data.
- Encrypted data without key files cannot be access.
- Hardware Assisted Encryption
- No additional software is required.
- No performance degraded with hardware engines, offload all the host computer processing to hardware RAID engines.
- Flexible deployment
- Available in NAS for network share, or iSCSI SAN (EliteNAS series) or DAS (EliteSTOR series) for highest performance.
