Axcient Rolls Out Virtual Appliance
Scales up to 20TB/VM.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 13, 2014 at 2:56 pmAxcient, Inc. announced the availability of a virtual appliance, enabling organizations to protect data locally and replicate to the cloud without the need to purchase any onsite hardware.
Companies running highly virtualized environments can leverage their investment in virtual servers and be confident that data and applications are always protected and available, from anywhere.
Axcient Virtual Appliance can be downloaded, installed and configured in minutes, giving companies access to the company’s RaaS cloud for rapid recovery of information, applications and IT infrastructures.
Companies with virtualized IT infrastructures don’t have to invest in additional hardware to leverage Axcient, and can recover and failover point-in-time snapshots of files, databases, applications and servers both locally and from the cloud, eliminating data loss and business down time.
The company can protect private and public cloud environments, enabling multi-tenant protection of disparate server clusters under one RaaS cloud.
Application downtime costs businesses from $10,000 – $163,000 per hour. Companies can use the appliance to failover and recover servers in minutes to keep applications running during IT outages and eliminate downtime.
Benefits include:
-
Lower Cost of Entry – The appliance is installed as a downloadable package; users can install multiple versions without incurring the cost of a physical appliance
-
Flexibility – Install the appliance on any virtual host, leveraging existing compute and storage infrastructure
-
Scalability – Multiple virtual appliances can run on a single virtual host, thereby reducing TCO; it can scale to any size environment up to 20TB per VM
The company is re-architecting the way companies protect, access and recover their data and applications, by delivering a solution that is faster than alternative. Developed in the cloud, for the cloud, the platform goes beyond backup and mirrors an organization’s business in the cloud including emails, files, applications, OSs and all of the interconnected elements of a network to ensure that business functions are never interrupted.
The appliance is available for VMware environments.
“Our new Virtual Appliance is a major milestone for Axcient. Previously, customers needed a local, physical appliance to be able to use our solution,” said Todd Scallan, VP of products, Axcient. “With today’s announcement, businesses of all sizes leveraging virtualization infrastructure, such as VMware, can benefit from the Axcient cloud solution for instant access and recovery of information, applications and IT systems.“
