Synology: NAS RackStation RS814

Synology Inc. introduced RackStation RS814, a 1U 4-bay rackmount NAS server with scalability up to 32TB with Synology RX410.

Powered by a 1.33 GHz dual-core CPU and link aggregation, it delivers read and write speeds of over 210MB/s and 130MB/s respectively under RAID-5 configuration in a Windows environment. The performance is enhanced with the integration of built-in floating-point unit and 1GB DDR3 RAM, ensuring faster multimedia processing and multi-tasking. In addition, it comes with a hardware encryption engine which outperforms the previous generation of 4-bay rackmount NAS by delivering up to 60% growth in both read and write speeds while transferring AES 256-bit encrypted files.

Designed with reliability, it comes with hot-swappable drives, and dual GbE ports with failover support to ensure continual service. The HDD tray lock secures the HDDs from unauthorized or accidental withdrawal.

It runs on DSM 4.3, an OS that provides a host of applications to bring productivity at work. The company was voted as PCMag Business Choice Award 2013 winner and received the highest rating in every element of the survey, including reliability, overall satisfaction, value, and likelihood to recommend.
