Starting at $5/month/TB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 7, 2013 at 2:10 pmSoftNAS LLC, has announced the sale of SoftNAS Essentials, a small office, home office version of its SoftNAS professional software.
It’s available on a monthly, annual or perpetual basis with an entry price as $4.95/month/TB.
Designed for the branch office, department, small office, and home office file server market, it “strikes a balance between open source options that lack simple administration with consistent support and expensive enterprise-grade NAS hardware appliances,” said Rick Braddy, SoftNAS founder and managing partner.
“Many customers find they don’t need all the enterprise-grade features – like cross-site mirroring, replication, failover, or CDP – available in SoftNAS Professional but they still appreciate SoftNAS’ core features and simple administration interface,” he said.
It also allows the use of existing hardware to create branch office and department storage servers, as well as storage servers for development, QA, A/V and other department teams that have been unable to justify purchase of high-quality NAS. Furthermore, it provides a low-cost storage system to manage local backups of hundreds of terabytes, using 4TB disk drives with off-the-shelf servers.
“With SoftNAS Essentials, IT now has an affordable option available to meet rapidly growing storage demands while staying within or below budget,” said Braddy.
It can be upgraded to SoftNAS professional as businesses grow and need to scale.
