Mpstor Brings Out Orkestra-SDS
Available for OpenStack storage provisioning
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 31, 2013 at 2:55 pmAs a much sought-after addition to its Orkestradatacenter solution suite, MPSTOR Ltd. released Orkestra-SDS, a software defined storage appliance for the open-source data OS OpenStack.
Suited to data centers or enterprises who wish to offer a scalable cloud computing service, it features automatic management of storage tiers and a pricing model based on managed devices rather than capacity.
“Orkestra-SDS is unique in that it automates the optimized use of tiered storage infrastructure,” said Mo Hassine, product manager, MPSTOR. “This allows the datacenter end user to provison the storage service level agreement he needs for his application. For the datacenter operator, Orkestra-SDS provides increased profitability through features such as increased utilization and and process automation.”
It also offers the flexibility of multiple interfaces including the OpenStack Block Storage (Cinder) interface that allows any number of Orkestra-SAM (storage management array solution) or third party storage nodes to be managed. By enabling storage resources to be added dynamically, it functions as a scaleout Elastic Block Storage (EBS) datacenter solution or ‘endless SAN in the cloud.’ For developers wishing to develop their own provisioning tools, it provides two APIs and a provisioning toolset.
The MPSTOR Orkestrasuite including Orkestra-SDS, Orkestra-SAM and Orkestra-IaaS, an IaaS solution, can be downloaded from the website for integration with a range of cloud platforms.
