EVault Delivers Cloud Data Protection Service for NetApp

Joins NetApp service provider partner program

EVault, Inc. (a Seagate company) announced EVault Storage Cloud – Data Protection Service for NetApp, Inc.

As part of the news at NetApp’s global technical conference, EVault also announced it has joined the NetApp partner program for service providers.

This is a purpose built cloud service for both NetApp FlexPod Datacenter and FlexPod Express customers offering integrated cloud data protection. It provides a solution for FlexPod customers using a pay-as-you-grow service model with no upfront costs. Customers can achieve up to 49% savings over on-premises OPEX/CAPEX solutions.

Customers can expect additional cost savings when using EVault Storage cloud for NetApp. For example, offsite storage costs for tape on what we call the diesel network may be eliminated along with aging tape hardware and associated maintenance costs. The removal of the tape hardware maintenance costs alone may very well pay for the service, especially as it can skyrocket for customers in years three and four, further eating away at IT’s budget,” said David A. Chapa, chief technology evangelist, office of the CTO, EVault. “We believe our hybrid cloud solution with NetApp is a perfect marriage for our customers and channel partners. Everyone wins with EVault and NetApp.

With growing skills gap, budgets under pressure and IT needing to do more year after year, the EVault and NetApp partnership couldn’t come at a better time. This hybrid cloud data protection solution should help NetApp customers alter their investment profile from pure capital to more of an operating or OPEX model that are part of driving return on innovation, the new ROI. This delivers both strategic and tactical ROI value for IT customers to make more effective use of resources while focusing more on core business by leveraging EVault to manage their storage in its cloud. This could be a big and interesting game changer for both companies to drive return on innovation vs. just ROI if executed in the right way,” said Greg Schulz, founder and senior advisor, StorageIO Group.

It takes advantage of NetApp’s snapshot and replication technologies for data protection to Evault’s multi-tenant storage cloud. Providing speed for backup and recovery, the replication technologies leverages block-level incremental replication and the snapshot copies for low-overhead disk-to-disk data protection. Building on EVault’s tenure customers can have the assurance the data is stored in EVault’s own datacenters. The combination creates a solution that is secure, relieving customers from having to over invest and over allocate in its data protection strategy.

Having over 15 years experience in cloud data protection, EVault, a Seagate company, continues to show innovation and forward thinking,” said Gary Hocking, CTO, service providers, NetApp. “Our collaboration with EVault enables the seamless movement of data to the cloud where it can be continuously protected and managed on a NetApp architecture.

EVault provides onsite, cloud, and cloud-connected-or hybrid-data protection solutions to help organisations protect and access their business data. The company has led the industry in the move to hybrid storage models, with an integrated ecosystem of EVault storage software, SaaS, managed services, and appliances that help ensure that customers maintain BC in multiplatform, multisite environments. EVault data protection, DR, and other storage services are optimised to perform in a distributed environment; supported by a reliable cloud storage infrastructure; and backed by quality customer service.

EVault’s proven cloud-connected data protection services are based on SSAE 16 compliant infrastructure, come with 24×7 support, and are trusted by more than 43,000 EVault customers worldwide. Now this same level of service and assurance are available to NetApp customers interested in lowering costs and improving service,” said Unmesh Kulkarni, VP of customer experience management, EVault. “EVault Storage cloud – Data Protection Service for NetApp will allow NetApp customers to enjoy all of the benefits of storing their data in the cloud while eliminating concerns about security.
