Powered by the QTS 4.1.2 OS and supporting QNAP’s QvPC Technology with Virtualization Station, cloud backup, and Q’center for centrally managing multiple Turbo NAS devices, it provides a cloud storage solution for businesses.

2015 will see a trend of deploying a hybrid cloud in businesses to optimize daily operations. We noticed a gap between high-end storage solutions designed for data centers and budget versions for the same purpose,” said David Tsao, product manager, QNAP. “With the release of the TVS-ECx80+ Edge Cloud Turbo vNAS, QNAP is filling the gap with a cloud storage solution with high-standard hardware designs and an economical price.”

The TVS-ECx80+ Turbo vNAS series (including the TVS-EC1080+, TVS-EC1080 and TVS-EC880) is powered by a quad-core Xeon E3-1245 v3 3.4GHz processor or above, providing the offerings of 10-bay and 8-bay storage capacity.

An economical model (TVS-EC1080-i3) is also available and is equipped with an Core i3-4150 processor and can accommodate 10 HDDs.

The flagship model TVS-EC1080+ features 32GB DDR3 RAM and pre-installed dual 10GbE ports, delivering up to 2,000 MB/s throughput and 223,000 IO/s.

The built-in 256GB mSATA modules can further enhance NAS performance for IO/s-demanding applications.

The TVS-EC1080 and TVS-EC880 provide an easy-to-manage hardware architecture that allows users to easily upgrade RAM and install mSATA modules by themselves,” added Tsao.

Easy mSATA installation, Fast RAM upgrade
The TVS-ECx80+ Turbo vNAS series features the latest QTS 4.1.2 OS, which supports HD Station 2.0 with a new tablet-style user interface, and allows users to enjoy visual experience with 4K2K UHD video playback through HDMI output. Coupled with a hardware-accelerated transcoding engine and 10GbE network connection, the TVS-ECx80+ series delivers 4K2K local display and transcoding capabilities and is suitable for applications such as video editing and TV broadcast storage.

QNAP’s exclusive QvPC Technology allows users to operate the TVS-ECx80+ as a PC when connected to a keyboard, mouse and monitor. With QvPC Technology, users can directly access stored data, run multiple applications using Windows/Linux/Unix/Android-based VMs, surf the web on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, enjoy 4K2K videos with up to 7.1 audio passthrough with XBMC, monitor live feeds in Surveillance Station with local display and more.

With Q’center, TVS-ECx80+ is transformed into a central management system that empowers administrators to effectively and easily manage multiple Turbo NAS. After installing Q’center from QTS App Center, administrators can use the TVS-ECx80+ to centrally manage multiple Turbo NAS in different locations, monitor system logs, set up firmware updates and maintain the system. Alongside this administrator-friendly design, the Turbo vNAS series offers other advantages, including easy installation, affordability, convenience and flexibility.

The TVS-ECx80+ installed with Surveillance Station is a professional network surveillance video management system that helps users build a surveillance center to monitor surveillance live feeds, record video and audio and play back videos. Users can also use their mobile devices with the Vmobile app to manage monitored channels at anytime from anywhere to safeguard their monitored environments. The TVS-ECx80+ offers 8 free IP camera channels and users can expand channels by purchasing additional licenses to meet their demands.

The TVS-ECx80+ series has a range of business applications and is for enterprises and organizations to build a secure private cloud and supports VMware, Microsoft and Citrix virtualization solutions to simplify virtual storage management. The cross-platform file sharing for Windows, Mac, and Linux/Unix users makes the series a centralized storage solution for organizations with a number of users. The support for Windows AD, LDAP directory services and Windows ACL improves the efficiency of permission settings. The series can also act as a domain controller for Windows, and offers flexible backup solutions for Windows and Mac users and DR solutions including RTRR, rsync and cloud storage backup.
