Synology DiskStation DS1515 5-Bay NAS

Synology Inc. launched the DiskStation DS1515, a expandable 5-bay NAS offering reliable, and full-featured NAS solution for small and medium-sized businesses.

The DS1515 is engineered to address such needs, and provides the performance, reliability, and scalability to manage, protect, and share data,” said Jonathan Wang, product manager, Synology.

Coming with a quad-core processor and four gigabit LAN ports featuring failover and link aggregation, DS1515 delivers outstanding performance, exceeding 421MB/s writing and 403MB/s reading when using a RAID-5 configuration in a Windows environment. The hardware encryption engine ensures fast encrypted data transmission speeds of up to 296MB/s reading and 150MB/s writing.

The DS1515 supports Synology HA, providing redundancy in the event of unexpected network failure and ensuring a smooth transition between clustered servers for the highest reliability and resiliency. The SSD R/W cache support further allows SMBs to see a boost in throughput while minimizing the cost per gigabyte. Designed to grow with SMBs, the DS1515 can scale up to 15 drives when paired with two DX513 expansion units.

DS1515 runs DiskStation Manager (DSM), the Synology’s OS for NAS devices. Featuring applications from backup to network management, DS1515 provides all essential business services and increasing productivity at work.
