Rohde & Schwarz DVS Storage Solutions for 4k and 8k Video Production

The SpycerBox Ultra TL offers a storage capacity of up to 288TB packs maximum density and performance with 30 HDDs housed in a single 1U chassis. Post production and broadcast customers will benefit from the systems’ incredible data throughput and robustness.

This year at IBC, the Rohde & Schwarz DVS GmbH‘s storage solutions will offer performance. The storage systems have been further developed to store the increasingly more typical quantities of data from 4K and 8K production environments.

Instead of the usual 24 disks, the new SpycerBox Ultra TL now has 48 SATA drives each with 6TB of storage capacity – equaling 288TB of capacity in a 4U chassis. The cost-efficient nearline solution comes equipped with dual 10GbE interfaces as standard, making it especially for mastering environments. It is available in different versions and integrates seamlessly into any NAS or SAN storage infrastructure thanks to its array of optional interfaces.

Boasting 36TB in  a single 1U chassis, SpycerBox Cell represents an combination of performance and functionality. In this regard, the system’s scalability plays a key role – followed by a data throughput of up to 3 GB/s per unit and maximum reliability a unique failover system. SpycerBox Cell is a solution when rackspace restrictions and energy saving requirements are considerations.

SpycerBox Cell and SpycerBox Ultra also complement each other. While SpycerBox Cell supports formats up to 8K with ease, the main focus of SpycerBox Ultra is its capacity to handle compressed formats. Customers who opt for a combination of R&S storage solutions will enjoy a robust synthesis of density and stable performance in a tiny footprint.

The devices from the SpycerBox family are all equipped with web-based management software. The SAN Remo GUI makes it easy and straightforward for users to configure their hardware and software components – SAN Remo also enables the devices to be configured in clusters, allowing system-status monitoring as well as performance- and bandwidth-statistic analysis.
