Qnap Multimedia Management for Turbo NAS

Organizes and saves multimedia files in separate shared folders.

Qnap Systems, Inc. introduced the Multimedia Management feature on its Turbo NAS OS QTS 4.1.1.

This feature provides users with a way for storing multimedia on a Turbo NAS, and allows them to be enjoyed in a variety of ways.

Mobile devices and digital cameras are constantly getting more powerful, but at the same time their storage space is not growing – with some devices removing SD cards and other expansion options entirely. To get around these limitations, more and more users are investing in NAS that not only solves their storage issues, but also allows them to browse and play multimedia files on the NAS at any time.

The users had to organize and save their multimedia files in separate shared folders depending on whether they were music, movies or photos.

Considering this inconvenience, we added smart Multimedia Management that lets users store any type of multimedia file in any shared folder, saving them time in organizing and separating these files into different folders,” said Willy Kuo, product manager, Qnap.

This  Multimedia Management enhances the flexibility of storing and accessing multimedia files, allowing users to spend more time enjoying their media instead of managing it.

QTS 4.1.1 offers applications including Photo Station, Music Station, Video Station and DLNA media server, allowing users to stream photos, music and videos to their computers and mobile devices. With the  Multimedia Management, users can enjoy their media collection using these applications by pre-selecting shared folders for scanning without having to manually set up each application. Scheduled scanning can also be used to allow the Turbo NAS to scan for media during off-peak hours to avoid affecting daily operations.

The options of Multimedia Management provides users with flexibility to only scan for photos, videos, or music, or all media files within a shared folder.
