IBM DS8870, DS8884, and DS8886 systems deliver additional capacity options to meet the requirements of large data growth environments.

IBM DS8870 offers 1.8TB 10,000rpm and 6TB 7,200rpm disk drives to handle large amounts of data. These 1.8TB 10,000rpm and 6TB 7,200rpm disk drives deliver additional price, performance, and capacity flexibility to help address specific application and business requirements.

1.8TB 10,000rpm and 6TB 7,200rpm disk drives are optional to the DS8870, DS8884, and DS8886. They are available as feature numbers 5778 and 5878.

Key prerequisites

  • All announced features and functions are supported on the IBM DS8000 series and require DS8000 LMC 7.7.53.xx.xx (bundle version 87.53.xxx.xx), or later.
  • All announced features and functions are supported on the IBM DS8880 series and require DS8000 LMC 8.8.01.xx.xx (bundle version 88.01.xxx.xx), or later.
