Mangstor and EchoStreams Demo 10GB/s All-Flash PCIe NVMe SSD Shared Array

Mangstor, Inc., developer of intelligent storage solutions for Web-Scale and large enterprise data centers, is working with EchoStreams Innovative Solutions LLC to create the next generation of NVM Express shared storage solutions.

The NMX-Series All-Flash-Array products built on Mangstor’s MX6300 SSDs, utilizing EchoStreams line of system platforms, provide over 10GB/s bandwidth with support for IB and RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) at latencies comparable to local server based NVMe devices.

The Mangstor NMX Series appliances address the need of video editing and shared game development applications requiring high R/W bandwidth while maintaining low latency to shared flash storage in cluster server configurations. The solution uses Mellanox VPI adapters, supporting NVMe over Fabrics using either RoCE or IB to provide high throughput at low latency.

Mangstor’s storage appliance provides a non-proprietary solution which outperforms traditional SAN-attached all-flash and hybrid arrays, and enables customers to seamlessly evolve their traditional server attached storage to growing server-SAN storage environments.

Mangstor’s NVMe appliance represents a step forward in the evolution of server attached storage to server-SANs. This all flash solution transparently extends the performance and latency benefits of direct server-attached PCIe-based SSDs, to a top-of-rack storage array where clustered servers access the shared storage via NVMe over RoCE or IB networks.

Mangstor and EchoStreams demonstrated the server-attached shared storage using RDMA over IB at NAB 2015 in Las Vegas, April 13-16.
