Starting at €8,500

Lenovo Group Ltd. announced the Lenovo|EMC VNX5150 Storage Array, a SAN solution that offers SMBs a storage system with an affordable price.

Ssuited for the needs and unpredictable workloads of SMBs, it is a dual storage processor SAN with redundancy for all major components and dual paths of connectivity through-out, available exclusively through Lenovo.

Based on the EMC VNX unified storage family, the Intel-powered Lenovo|EMC VNX5150 is designed to handle mixed workloads, both physical and virtual.

Featuring 6Gb SAS drives with multi-protocol block connection support and either 2.5″ or 3.5″ drive bays, it offers capacity, performance and efficiency at a competitive price.

The Lenovo|EMC VNX5150 enables organizations to dynamically grow, share, and cost-effectively manage multi-protocol block storage access via a platform for consolidation of legacy block storage, file servers, and direct-attached application storage. It supports iSCSI, FC, and FCoE access for high-bandwidth and latency-sensitive block applications.

It supports the EMC FASTSuite (FAST Cache and FAST VP). Active data is served from flash drives with FAST Cache to dynamically absorb unpredictable spikes in system workloads. As that data ages and becomes less active over time, FAST VP – fully automated storage tiering for virtual pools – automatically tiers the data from high-performance to high-capacity drives, resulting in the best performance and overall lower costs, regardless of application type or data age.

For SMB deployments where IT support is limited, the Lenovo|EMC VNX5150 is configured with EMC Unisphere, a built-in management system that provides an integrated user interface for simple remote management, as well as tool-less hot-swap components, fans and power supplies for easy device servicing. It includes the customizable Unisphere dashboard, which aggregates system information, including capacity, CPU utilization, health and alerts, enabling administrators to gain instant and actionable knowledge about environment performance.

The system is also designed to protect data against localized failures, outages, and disasters with its local and remote protection suite software, reducing the need for IT infrastructure support staff at small organizations. For customers on a budget and who require versatile expansion, high redundancy, availability and efficiency, it is a value SAN solution.

Convenient and Flexible Enterprise Service Offerings
Lenovo has a suite of service offerings that help customers accurately budget for the level of protection required to keep their businesses up and running. Optional upgraded services are available to help maximize uptime and productivity. Premium Level Support provides access to priority call routing, escalation management and basic software support.

This move is part of a previously announced, multi-tier agreement between Lenovo and EMC to drive innovation in the server and storage market“, said Vincent Fauquenot, VP products and channels, Lenovo EMEA. “The Lenovo|EMC VNX5150 is a key solution element for enterprises, enabling Lenovo to provide server and storage solutions to our customers. The VNX5150 platform is a unique offering, based on EMC’s industry-leading midrange storage capabilities, tailored to the needs of Lenovo’s customers.

The Lenovo|EMC VNX5150 Storage Array is available in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, and Russia, starting under €8,500 (excluding VAT), and it’s expected tol be available in additional EMEA countries in 4Q 2014.
