Idealstor 48TB Removable Disk Appliance With 6Gb SAS Interface

Idealstor LLC releases a removable disk-based storage system using SAS interface.

This provides faster and scalable storage for backup archiving and DR. Using SAS helps improve the already speeds of the Idealstor product portfolio of backup systems, which includes the Teralyte, backup appliance and WORM. It doubles the speed of the previous generation’s system from 3 to 6Gb/s.

When compared to the first generation of hardware, which used PATA drives, this fifth generation of systems is so much faster. The systems can scale to 48TB of raw data and with removable disks provide storage to meet compliance requirements and retention policies.

With the growth of data being explosive, the need for a method to store that data is a necessity. businesses that continue to use tape will no longer experience the associated headaches or costs of continued maintenance related to tape. The removable disk solution is more cost effective than tape. With the ability to do data deduplication, more data can be stored on a disk than can be stored on tape. The Idealstor solution makes tape obsolete.
