IBM Data Engine for Analytics

IBM Data Engine for Analytics – Power Systems Edition now offers the following new configuration options: IBM Elastic Storage Server 5146 Models GL6, GS1, GS2, GS4, and GS6.

Power Systems offers a range of solutions for big data, from entry level for dedicated Hadoop infrastructures with the IBM Solution for Hadoop Power Systems Edition to enterprise solutions with the IBM Data Engine for Analytics – Power Systems Edition, which is capable of hosting multiple Hadoop tenants along with traditional analytics workloads. The IBM Elastic Storage Server, a building block for big data, is included in the IBM Data Engine for Analytics or can be purchased independently.

The IBM Data Engine for Analytics is for clients looking for an enterprise, turnkey solution capable of hosting multiple instances of Hadoop along with traditional data analytics. It is a customized big data and analytics infrastructure solution with integrated software that is easy to deploy for value. It enables flexible and adjustable storage and compute nodes to align the infrastructure with specific line-of-business needs. It also incorporates design to reduce the amount of infrastructure needed for big data and analytics workloads.

New for IBM Data Engine for Analytics

Expanded options for entry and high-end storage
IBM Data Engine for Analytics now includes a wider range of storage options based on the IBM Elastic Storage Server (ESS). In addition to the currently supported, GL2 and GL4 models, businesses starting with smaller configurations can select from the ESS GS models. These models offer entry points as small as 10TB. This release also adds the ESS GL6 model that delivers a high-end configuration offering up to 2PB of raw storage based on 6TB drives. Multiple ESS models can be combined to offer even higher scalability into the 10 to 100PB range.
