Crossroads StrongBox NAS Solution Adds Multi-Library Support

For unlimited scalability

Crossroads Systems, Inc. announced multi-library support in its release of the StrongBox 3.0 NAS appliance.

Crossroads_SB-multi libraryThis enhancement, available to new and existing customers in April, allows StrongBox users to manage their exploding storage requirements while protecting data in more than one location.

By automatically writing data to two separate tape libraries, StrongBox addresses the problems associated with manually shipping duplicate tapes for off-site copies; thus eliminating cost, complexity, and the risk of lost tapes. This ‘touchless’ approach to tape storage can automatically provide multiple copies of LTFS media in separate locations, and allows enterprise customers to cost-effectively scale their storage infrastructure.

In addition, customers in need of expanded library capacity can simply add a second library to their existing environment – sometimes at half the cost of purchasing a new, larger tape library. This reinforces Crossroads’ commitment to providing scalable storage solutions at the absolute lowest cost per gigabyte – while keeping data protected and available via StrongBox’s intelligent policy management.

StrongBox multi-library support is a game-changer for today’s data center,” said David Cerf, EVP, strategy and business development, Crossroads Systems. “Our new multi-library feature now provides an even greater value for our customers. Organizations can take advantage of the low cost and scalability of tape while StrongBox automates data management and simplifies file retrieval.

StrongBox works with all major tape libraries and LTO5, LTO6 and IBM TS1140/1150 drives. Deployed with existing resources or as a stand-alone system, it is the market’s most cost-effective solution for online, nearline and archive storage needs.
