Cirrus Data Solutions: Data Migration Server V4

Cirrus Data Solutions, Inc. announced that enterprises everywhere are free to move their data where they want to, when they want to, with the Data Migration Server (DMS) version 4.

This version of company’s product features enhancements, including integration with new storage for automated destination disk allocation and provisioning, live data migrations and workload cut-over without application downtime, and HA DMS hardware configurations that use half the rack space of previous DMS products.

DMS Version 4 accelerates, automates, and simplifies the block level migration of data from FC SANs to any new storage destinations such as legacy SAN, all flash storage, iSCSI, virtualized (hypervisor) environments, and cloud. With its patented ‘Transparent Datapath Intercept‘ technology, DMS Version 4 is a fast way to move data without disruption: plug it into the network and begin moving source data to new destination storage in minutes. There is no downtime necessary throughout the migration process and in certified environments, DMS Version 4’s pMotion feature enables the immediate removal of older storage equipment, even before the final cutover.

Features available in DMS Version 4 include:

• One-touch auto-allocation and auto-provisioning that creates new destinations for source data and maps them to the appropriate hosts automatically in minutes, eliminating countless hours of manual labor.

• A pMotion’feature using advanced ‘storage identity emulation’ technology that enables enterprises to not only migrate the data, but also the storage workload to the new storage with no application downtime required, thereby allowing the old storage to be retired without fear of lease or maintenance extension costs. Applications enjoy increased reliability and higher performance of the new storage immediately, allowing the final cutover to occur as application maintenance windows become available in the future.

• Redundant cluster configurations that are now offered in a single 2U enclosure, resulting in reduced hardware footprint and lower shipping costs.
