With up to 22 hours of 4K video storage on tap (4,096 x 2,304, 29.97 fps, 8-bit ProRes 422 HQ) and available as an enclosure only or populated with up to 12TB of storage (four 2.5″ 3TB SSDs), it offers performance and storage capacity with a tiny footprint.

The QUAD mini features two Thunderbolt2 ports for both storage and display and can reach speeds of up to 1,375MB/s. With a size of 3.75″x4.5″x7.5″, it can fit into almost any bag or case for use in the field and the 12TB version easily holds enough data for the most demanding applications.

The Thunder2QUAD Mini is a real game changer for video professionals“, said Richard Wright, VP sales and marketing, Akitio. “12TB of ultra-high performance portable storage that easily fits in a backpack or hard-case for field shooting, ingest, and editing lets the production crew work anywhere and without the weight and bulk normally associated with 12TB of storage.”

Thunder2QUAD Mini include compatibility with the free Data Multiplier software that allows a user to copy the contents of one drive onto three other drives simultaneously, thus reducing the time it takes to make backup copies of content that needs to be shared. It features a large quiet fan to keep the drives cool and uses the same drive trays as the Akitio Thunder Duo and D3.

The QUAD mini is available starting at $349 (no storage installed, enclosure only) with the 12TB version retailing for $12,999.
