OCZ/Toshiba Assigned Patent

Programming method and device for buffer cache in SSD system

OCZ Storage Solutions, San Jose, CA, a Toshiba Group company, has been assigned a patent (8,874,826) developed by six co-inventors for a “programming method and device for a buffer cache in a solid-state disk system.”

The co-inventors are Jin-Ho Seol, Seongnam-si, South Korea, Seung-Ryoul Maeng, Jin-Soo Kim, Jae-Geuk Kim, Hyo-Taek Shim, and Han-Mook Park, Seongnam-si, South Korea.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Provided are a method and apparatus for programming a buffer cache in a Solid State Disk (SSD) system. The buffer cache programming apparatus in the SSD system may include a buffer cache unit to store pages, a memory unit including a plurality of memory chips, and a control unit to select at least one of the page as a victim page, based on a delay occurring when a page is stored in at least one target memory chip among the plurality of memory chips.”

The patent application was filed on Nov. 30, 2009 (13/148,115).
