Freecom’s Trio of SSDs

Including mSSD with USB 3.0 lighter than golf ball (£239 fo 256GB)

Freecom Technologies Limited, a Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Company,, announces three SSDs for those looking to take advantage of the shock-resistance virtues that SSDs provide while benefiting from rugged storage devices with high performance and sophisticated sleek design.

Ultra-miniature mSSD, Mobile Drive Mg SSD and Tough Drive SSD are available to buy in Europe and all come with two years manufacturer’s warranty and unlimited helpdesk support.

The mSSD, a mini SSD with USB 3.0 connectivity that has data transfer speeds of up to 430MB/s* – making it one of the fastest external micro-SSDs available in the market and at least four times faster than standard HDD drives.

Being an SSD, it also has all the other benefits of this technology compared to HDD drives; with no moving parts it is silent during operation, it also uses less power and is far more durable.

Significantly smaller (by volume) and lighter than a golf ball, it weighs 29 grams and measures 80x 35x9mm (LxWxH) to strike a very appealing balance between portability and performance. With an elegant brushed aluminium enclosure which mirrors the stylish exterior of Macbooks, users also benefit from a very sleek appearance.

Freecom has added SSDs to its Mobile Drive Mg family. Offering 128GB and 256GB capacities, all the SSD models feature USB 3.0 connectivity with the top-of-the-range 256GB model also featuring a Thunderbolt interface for convenient and fast data transfer.

Named after the chemical symbol for the magnesium used to enclose the device, it delivers data transfer speeds of up to 415MB/s*.

The 128GB version weighs 132g and is slim at 120x81x10mm (LxWxH). The 256GB SSD model with Thunderbolt connectivity weighs 175g with a dimension of 129x81x129mm (LxWxH).

Mobile Drive Mg SSD has an MSRP of £125.00 for the 128GB model (product reference: 56293), £245.00 for the 256GB model (product reference: 56294) and £310.00 for the 256GB model with USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt interface (product reference: 56273). All drives come with a USB 3.0 connection cable while a Thunderbolt cable is also supplied with the top range model that’s also housed in a durable protective case with soft lining.

Tough Drive SSD (product reference: 56275) is a competitively priced 256GB SSD model within its prized Tough Drive family. It is IP55 rated, meaning that it is resistant to water and is dust proof. Built around an internal anti-shock frame which makes it resilient to drops from up to 4 meters, and further protected by a scratch-proof silicone cover that looks attractive and provides additional grip, the Tough Drive SSD delivers transfer speeds of up to 415MB/s*.

This Tough Drive features a small, integrated USB 3.0 dongle which slots neatly into the unit when not in use and can be easily flipped out when connected, a feature that avoids misplacing a separate cable.

It is lightweight at 180g and compact at 140x80x19mm (LxWxH) so it can be slipped into a pocket or case and taken around with users wherever they go.

Devices provide USB Recording, enabling users to record televised content to an external storage device directly connected to a TV via USB and pause live TV.

All the drives can be used for USB Recording and are FAT-32 pre-formatted drive to ensure they are immediately ready to be used on both PC and Mac. Additionally, various preloaded software applications support users with backup, restore functions and energy saving features.
