Foremay 2.5-Inch NVMe U.2 SSD at 8TB

Foremay, Inc. announced shipment of its 2.5″ U.2 NVMe SSDs with a maximum capacity of 8TB, which, the largest capacity NVMe SSD.

It is designed with PCIe x4 lanes which bring the maximum R/W speed up to 1.2 GB/s with latency of 25μs.

This standard 2.5″ U.2 NVMe SSD with rugged metal housing is for the next generation of rugged computers and servers.

“A 2.5″ NVMe U.2 form factor is the natural choice of system designers for next generation high performance, rugged computers and servers,” said Jack Winters, Foremay’s CTO and co-founder. “It combines the high speed and low latency of PCIe protocols with a legacy 2.5″ SATA form factor in a rugged metal housing.”

These 2.5″ NVMe U.2 SSDs are designed with performance and reliability for industrial and military applications.

They also incorporate the features below (some of which are optional) for mission critical and rugged server applications:

• AES-256 hardware-based encryption engine with the capability of crypto erase.
• SED (Self-encrypting drives) features in compliance with TCG Opal 2.0 specifications.
• Military secure erase and fast erase features.
• Rugged designs with anti-shock and anti-vibration, meeting MIL-STD-810G/F standards.
• Anti-radiation and anti-emission, both electrical and magnetic, for aerospace applications subject to the customer’s specifications.
• On-board UPS to protect the device from unexpected external power loss.

2.5″ NVMe U.2 SSDs are in production, offered at both industrial and commercial operating temperatures.
