Protecting data stored on removable storage device

Elwha LLC, Bellevue, WA, has been assigned a patent (8,621,644) developed by five co-inventors for a “system and method for protecting data stored on a removable storage device.”

The system includes a personal electronic device, a removable solid state data storage device operatively coupled to the personal electronic device, and a circuit configured to protect data stored in a memory of the data storage device in response to detecting impending removal of the data storage device from the personal electronic device.

The patent application was filed on Dec. 29, 2011 (13/340,424).
