To cope with big data computing demands from the rapidly growing IoT market, Advantech is extending its current SQFlash portfolio of CF, DOM, CFast, mSATA, half-slim, and 2.5″ SSD modules to include a line of server storage products – the T1 series. Maintaining its emphasis on the embedded market, Advantech also plans to introduce a micro SSD storage chip solution with built-in security features to facilitate more compact and secure embedded system designs.

SQFlash T1 Series Offers Server Grade Storage Solutions
The SQFlash T1 Series is equipped with a SATA III and PCIe III interface that deliver performance in both 2.5″ SSD and M.2 form factors for a range of server designs and applications. The SQFlash T1 Series features a quad-core SSD controller IC that enhances the storage throughput and ensures R/W performance stability even when the disk is almost full. Additionally, the SQFlash T1 series devices are a server storage solutions that support not only MLC-type flash IC, but also Ultra MLC and SLC for greater endurance. This product line is currently under development and is expected to be available by Q2 of 2015.

SQFlash Micro SSD Provides Onboard Storage with Built-in Software Functions
SQFlash Micro SSD features the same controller technology as standard SQFlash module products and is packaged as a single chip with both Flash IC and controller IC. In addition to delivering the performance required by industrial applications, the SQFlash Micro SSD features abundant SQFlash software functions that ensure total application and data security. For example, the Security ID function enables users to restrict software execution to a specific SQFlash; with the write protect function, users can ensure that all data stored on the micro SSD data is in the same format and cannot be modified; and the Flash Vault feature offers a hidden area for storing confidential data to further reduce the risk of unauthorized access.

Besides product line expansion, Advantech announced a 60-day customization service for extending the SQFlash storage functionality beyond the standard offering. This service includes customization of the hardware design, as well as firmware adjustments for additional security or specific platform compatibility.
