Diablo Memory1 Adopted by American Megatrends

In Aptio V UEFI BIOS firmware

blo Mmory1American Megatrends, Inc., (AMI), in BIOS, remote management, storage and solutions for the Android and Linux OSs, announced that its Aptio V UEFI BIOS Firmware features support for the new Memory1 storage technology introduced by Diablo Technologies, Inc.

Aptio V represents the ‘next generation’ of UEFI BIOS Firmware, featuring support for the latest UEFI specifications and the security, fast boot and touch interface support that today’s platforms require. It brings together all of the experience, value-adds and improvements that AMI has incorporated into its UEFI and BIOS products from over 30 years, empowering the top OEMs and ODMs around the world with The Aptio Advantage.

Aptio V also features specific enhancements and benefits for each key market segment – server, embedded, tablet, client and ARM – making the reasons to choose Aptio V.

The Memory1 family of products represents a technology that transforms the way server systems operate and perform. Memory1-based products are physically deployed into the same DIMM slots that house DRAM and represent the first generation of solutions from Diablo that are compatible with the DDR4 protocol and serve as system memory. With Memory1, massive capacity at an economic advantage is now possible, allowing up to 4TB of system memory in a single two-socket server. Data now remains local to the CPU and applications, so that enterprise performance can be unlocked in ways that were previously impossible. Applications can immediately access larger data sets, perform faster analysis, and service more users than ever before.

With support now added to Aptio V UEFI Firmware, server systems can realize the benefits of DDR4-based Memory1, including four times the capacity and imroved economics. This gives greater choice and flexibility to OEM and ODM server manufacturers when creating their hardware designs – and marries the UEFI BIOS solution with high capacity, economical Memory1.

We’re excited that American Megatrends has integrated support for the Diablo Memory1 product into their Aptio UEFI firmware solution,” said Riccardo Badalone, CEO and co-founder, Diablo. “With AMI providing BIOS for the majority of the server market, our collaboration is making it easy for OEM and ODMs to create a broad and vibrant ecosystem around solutions with Memory1.

AMI is the first independent BIOS vendor (IBV) to enable BIOS-level support for Diablo Technologies’ Memory1 product in our Aptio V UEFI firmware solution. We strongly believe that this technology will be a disruptive force in the server industry. Hardware manufacturers that use Aptio V will soon be able to offer support for DDR-4 Memory1 modules, in addition to our existing support for Diablo Memory Channel Storage products,” commented Subramonian Shankar, president and CEO, AMI.
