ZIPmagic 12 Offering Three Full-Disk Compression Methods

ZIPmagic 12 is a data compression product for Windows with transparent disk compression.

It includes three full disk compression solutions. All together, these solutions cover an entire gamut of applications – from virtual or private servers on the cloud, to consumer applications in the form of fixed storage tablets or small SSDs. It doubles all storage space, in all scenarios, and in a single click.

“Necessity is the mother of invention. Developing ZIPmagic 12 on my 64GB Surface Pro, I often ended up running out of disk space,” says Simon King, ZIPmagic Software. “I knew there had to be a way to double my tablet’s storage to at least 128GB, if not more. I offer you three new tools as the fruit of my labor – mission accomplished!“

DriveSpace is compatible with all Windows environments. While offering the least compression savings of the three, it is the most versatile. It runs on all Windows versions from Windows XP 32 bit through Server 2012 R2 64 bit. It does not require console access, and as such may be used to compress live Windows Server OSs with zero downtime.

It is compatible with 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows 8.1 Update 1. It lives up to its name and doubles storage on disks it compresses. The only drawback is that it must restart Windows in an exclusive mode for disk compression. While this renders it unusable on servers without console access, DoubleSpace can double storage on fixed storage tablets and SSD boot disks.

Stacker is compatible with 64 bit versions of Windows 8 or newer. Stacker offers the best compression rates in the trio, but it cannot be used to compress boot disks. Storage disks are an ideal target for Stacker, especially considering that Stacker eliminates redundancies across files.

All three full disk compressors run in a single-click operation mode, automatically detecting and applying the most optimal settings for the target system; such as optimizing for the number of available CPU cores, and leveraging speed boosts from underlying SSD hardware that are automatically detected.

It is also a archive manager, supporting 110 archive types including ZIP, and newer compression formats such as ZIPX for JPEGs and 7ZIP for program data. It also integrates with Microsoft Outlook; delivering transparent email attachment compression, as well as secure previews for archive attachments in received email.
