StorMagic, Inc. announced SvSAN 6.

With the launch of version 6 the company will, for the first time, offer SvSAN in a Standard and Advanced Edition. Both will be available globally now that the firm is a Preferred Solution Partner within the Cisco Solutions Partner Program and via the company’s OEM agreement with Cisco Technology, Inc.

SvSAN 6 is a affordable way for companies to take advantage of the very latest hyper-converged infrastructure in a lean IT environment. Version 6 enables large organizations with remote or branch offices, or smaller businesses with more modest IT infrastructure and budget to take advantage of advanced storage caching features that enable the perfect balance of flexibility, efficiency and performance, while also future-proofing their IT infrastructure:

Automatically leveraging the internal memory, SSD and SATA/SAS storage tiers of two industry standard servers, SvSAN 6 presents a virtual SAN to the hypervisor providing major gains in performance and a reduction in power consumption. This level of performance is critical for IT managers that deploy centralized IT strategies who, according to independent research commissioned by the company and conducted by Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), are still hampered by slow file transfer speeds (36%) and poor application performance (25%) at remote locations.

As well as being available to purchase through firm’s extensive Preferred Partner Network, SvSAN 6 will be available via the company’s recent OEM agreement with Cisco as a supported solution on all Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) server models and sold through the Cisco partner ecosystem.

SvSAN 6 also delivers synchronous mirroring to protect data in real time, HA to guarantee service uptime and VSA restore, which ensures rapid data recovery in the event of a hardware failure. It includes stretched clusters to increase service resiliency within geographically distributed SvSAN VSA nodes, rapid recovery and target migration to ensure transparent movement of targets between available SvSAN resources. In addition, SvSAN 6 features storage pooling to improve storage utilization and categorization, and provides simplified storage administration capabilities with centralized monitoring and management software that allows admins to control multiple SvSAN remotely from a single location.
