Managing physical memory of and storage management system

Siemens Aktiengesellschat, Munchen, Germany, has been assigned a patent (9,367,441) developed by Hjul, Ivan Schultz, Varde, Danemark, for a “method for managing physical memory of a data storage and data storage management system.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”A method is provided managing physical memory of a data storage, for example, a heap. The method includes requesting a memory portion having a memory portion size and identifying a pool. The pool is provided for storing at least one access information indicative of an address of a memory block of the data storage. The memory block has a memory block size equal to or larger than the memory portion size. The method further includes determining whether the access information is stored in the pool. If the access information is stored in the pool, address data of the memory block is returned, wherein the address data are based on the access information, and access information is removed from the pool. If the access information is not stored in the pool, the access information is created, and address data of the memory block is returned.
