FlashNet is a scalable content storage management system that provides levels of resilience, flexibility and adaptability.

It includes SGL’s Asset Migration Service. The migration of tape assets from one platform to another, or from one generation to another, is a costly and time-consuming process. The FlashNet Migration Service enables a whole migration to be set up as a single background task that optimises the use of available archiving equipment and speeds up processes, reducing migration times by half.

SGL has demonstrated a full archive using GV Stratus, hosted by a Grass Valley presenter. An intuitive solution, GV Stratus includes full search, archive and restore integrated directly with FlashNet. The presentation will include FlashNet’s control of job queues directly from GV Stratus.

The company showed the latest version of its FlashWeb interface, which includes enhanced search capabilities and simplified navigation allowing broadcasters and content owners to easily archive and restore material to any configured FlashNet disk or tape group. This can be achieved without the need for a controlling MAM or automation system.

Additional highlights include partial file restore of QuickTime files; full archive demonstration via Avid PAM; and support for LTFS.

Douglas Wynn, VP, sales Americas, explains, “NAB provides the perfect platform for us to showcase FlashNet’s new features, which enable broadcasters and content owners to simplify their archive workflows. Both technical and commercial SGL staff will be available on the booth to answer any questions or to discuss any project throughout the show.

SGL highlighted its integration projects with Aspera and Avid Interplay Web Services.
