Rocket Servergraph Professional Supports IBM i

For backup and storage monitoring

Rocket Software, Inc. announced that its backup and storage monitoring software, Rocket Servergraph Professional, includes specialized functionality for IBM i.

Servergraph Professional is an industry solution that supports both BRMS and IBM i, going beyond command-line log analysis and proactively monitoring entire IBM i environments across servers through a single view. It provides real-time visibility that helps companies better manage processes, costs, and risks on IBM i.

Many data protection tools have their own reporting capabilities, but they only monitor themselves,” says Dan Magid, VP of applications development, chief technologist and IBM i evangelist, Rocket. “That can make it hard for administrators to isolate and identify backup or storage issues until they cause outages and downtime. By including IBM i functionality, Servergraph Professional makes it easier to resolve potential problems before they occur. Most enterprise companies have data in many different locations, on many different devices. For the first time ever, companies can monitor ad manage their IBM i backup environments alongside all of their other storage technologies.

Servergraph Professional offers users features that help streamline IBM i data management. A ‘single pane of glass’ view, combined with automated real-time alerts, makes it easier for administrators to find and resolve problems before they lead to failures or outages. Automated capabilities make it easy to configure and distribute backup and storage reports by business group, geography, application. It also helps streamline audit and compliance preparation, with the ability to generate custom reports that address specific governance and compliance needs, providing an audit trail of IBM i activities and processes.

Before, it was virtually impossible for my team to get answers to critical questions, and Servergraph Professional is very strong at answering these questions quickly,” says Martin Campbell, Unix and virtualization team lead, The University of Edinburgh. “We are also able to deliver the intricate reporting the downstream owners of the research systems need, eliminating the need for team members to spend hours creating reports manually.
