Raidix Unified Storage Software V4.3 Released for Disk Arrays

To get SSD cache, RAID N + M algorithm, 12Gb SAS interface

Raidix, LLC announced a product release to partners.

Storage performance is the cornerstone and main focus of Raidix: with performing RAID calculating algorithms in the kernel, the developer implements major updates every six months.

These updates are sought by the demanding professional storage markets such as media and entertainment, healthcare, HPC and CCTV – industries.

One of the previous software releases was done nine months ago: it was designed especially for partners with needs for high-performance computing, high-performance processing of large data volumes (big Data). Designed for HA storage clusters, the software was optimized for joint use with Lustre parallel file system.

The next release was more focused on specific demands of the niche customers – the fault-tolerant NAS with extended functionality was implemented: including ability to turn on the Write-Once-Read-Many option, a must-have for storage systems utilized in healthcare, TV sports broadcasting for accurate instant replays and many more.

In the newest release the developer worked on performance, fault tolerance, ease of implementation and use.

New in Raidix 4.3:

  • Performance: SSD cache for read operations improves ‘hot’ data access performance. Necessary optimizations were implemented to enable building all-flash arrays for tasks requiring ultra-high performance especially on read operations.

  • Fault tolerance: This version features a unique RAID N+M algorithm, allowing users to determine a number of disks allocated for checksums. Data can be restored in case of failure of up to 32 drives in a group.

  • Implementation and use: 12Gb SAS interface is supported in the target mode for better price-to-performance ratio. User interface was redesigned for yet a more friendly look. Central management for multiple Raidix systems connected to a local network was implemented allowing monitoring their status from a single screen.

Sergei Platonov, product owner, said: “When we created Raidix 4.3 we followed our basic approach – development through research. RAID N + M and a two-level cache modules were originally developed in our own research laboratory. From day one of the company existence core values of our product have been created using a scientific approach, and this method justifies itself fully every time. The release went through several stages of quality assurance in various departments of the company and with loyal customers, and now the results of his truly immense and hard work have fnally bec, available to everyone.
