Permabit Storage Savings Estimator

Permabit Technology Corporation unveiled its Storage Savings Estimator (SSE), a tool that enables storage vendors (OEMs and service providers) and their customers to identify the savings on storage-related costs by measuring the benefits of deduplication, compression and thin provisioning technologies.

Available as a free download from the company and SANblox.com websites, SSE is delivered as a Windows application that demonstrates how company’s partners and their customers can increase storage ROI by implementing the inline data reduction products. Once downloaded, the tool is easy to use. One need only select a directory to scan, and SSE will return the total amount of space savings organizations can expect when deduplication and compression are applied to their data. This information can then be used to estimate the TCO of storage, based on an organization’s unique environment.
