IBM Tivoli Storage Manager V7.1.1

IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and TSM Extended Edition V7.1.1 enables lower cost DR and enhances resilience with the following features:

• Improved replication flexibility that allows different policies to be defined on the primary and secondary TSM servers. This enables optimal management of resources for DR and simplifies compliance with long term retention requirements.
• Automated recovery of damaged, source server volumes or data from a replication server for local disaster. This could be used to replace local copy storage pools, reducing TCO.
• Enhanced security with NIST SP800-131 compliance and support of 256-bit AES Encryption.

TSM Operations Center V7.1.1 component adds integrated administrative actions,
and improved client and server diagnostics for  backup environment
with following features:

• New scheduling interface provides at a glance view of complex backup schedules and provides the ability to create and modify client schedules.
• Ability to email reports on backup client and server status without logging into the managing server.
• Centralized log views for Windows and Linux backup-archive clients from a single user interface to enable more efficient problem diagnosis and resolution.
• Backend capacity reporting for IBM TSM Suite for Unified Recovery products.

The enhancements noted above for TSM and TSM Extended Edition V7.1.1 are also available in System Storage Archive Manager V7.1.1.

TSM for Virtual Environments V7.1.1 helps improve backup and recovery management
for virtual environments with the following new features:

• Expanded Hyper-V support to provide single-pass incremental forever backups to reduce backup windows and save storage cost without deploying an agent in guest
• Improved ease of use for file-level recovery scenarios in VMware environments involving Linux Logical Volume Manager, Windows dynamic disks, and Windows GUID partitioning table disks
• Integration with the vSphere Web Client enabling VMware administrators to restore VMs from TSM and view task progress directly from the vSphere Web Client interface

TSM for Mail V7.1.1 helps improve usability and performance when restoring folders with individual mailbox restores, and supports Exchange role-based access control.

Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager V4.1.1 extends its integration with storage array mirroring for VMware environments, provides usability enhancements for VMware and Windows environments, and also delivers performance improvements for Exchange mailbox restore. In addition, it support for third-party storage devices is extended to include EMC VNX and Hitachi Data Systems Virtual Storage Platform and Hitachi Unified Storage, storage devices, when used with V1.4 of the Rocket Device Adapter Pack for Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager.
