IBM Spectrum Accelerate V11.5.3

With dual-pipe ordering

IBM Spectrum Accelerate version 11.5.3 with dual-pipe ordering support.

IBM Spectrum Accelerate delivers a variety of enterprise features on x86 servers, similar to XIV Gen3 storage systems. With IBM Spectrum Accelerate, you can reduce time to value for business applications, and achieve cost savings driven by the agility and usage of the hardware solution.

An administrator can deploy the IBM Spectrum Accelerate storage solution on existing virtualized servers in minutes, enabling a tuning-free storage environment to be built quickly with ease of management and agility.

IBM Spectrum Accelerate V11.5.3 delivers following new functions:

  • Support for 6TB HDDs for 50% more capacity in the same footprint than 4TB drives
  • Support for 600GB 10,000rpm drives
  • IBM Hyper-Scale mobility over iSCSI networks:
  • Delivers online, transparent, nondisruptive data mobility between IBM Spectrum Accelerate storage clusters
  • Enables access to a volume through multiple storage clusters as a single, multipath volume on the host
  • Helps maximize utilization and effective performance balancing across multiple clusters and facilitate aggressive thin-provisioning

IBM Spectrum Storage is expanding the available ordering options for IBM Spectrum Accelerate with the addition of dual-pipe order processing support. IBM Spectrum Accelerate has always been orderable using the Passport Advantage system and is now available through the AAS ordering system. The AAS ordering system supports the IBM Storage product line, and is more familiar and accessible to storage hardware sellers and business partners. After initial order processing, all IBM Spectrum Accelerate software entitlements will be transferred to Passport Advantage systems for order fulfillment, subscription and support, and any subsequent renewals.

Key prerequisites:

  • x86 servers running VMware ESX Hypervisor with a VM configured according to the recommended specifications.
  • VMware ESX V5.5 is required on every node.

Planned availability date:

  • December 18, 2015 (all offerings except BH003ML)
  • January 11, 2016 (media pack BH003ML)
