IBM LTFS Enterprise Edition Combined With GPFS For Large Amounts of Data

Bundled solutions are changing to provide software-only configurations for scalable, low-cost, file-based storage environments for long-term retention of data.

These solution bundles are designed to be easy to order and integrate for rapid deployment and accelerated ROI.

Note: Bundled solutions offered with preconfigured System x servers are no longer available.

IBM Corp.‘s LTFS Enterprise Edition software is generally supported with these OSs, but some functional enhancements are only supported with select OSs:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.4 x86_64
  • SLES 11 SP1 x86_64
  • SLES 11 SP2 x86_64

Bundled solutions require:

  • IBM GPFS
  • IBM LTFS EE
  • Supported OS
  • Intel based server configuration

Suggested server configurations for:

  • Entry:
    • 2 cores
    • 96GB memory
    • 10 TB RAID internal storage
    • 2 Qlogic dual port 8GB FC HBAs
    • RHEL 6.4 OS
  • Enterprise:
    • 12 cores
    • 160GB memory
    • 16TB RAID base internal config
    • 5 Qlogic dual port 8GB FC HBAs
    • RHEL 6.4 OS

LTFS EE supports mixed environments and any combination of these drive types can be used in an LTFS EE environment and the supported media respectively.

Following IBM drives are currently supported by LTFS EE:

  • LTO Ultrium Gen 6
  • LTO Ultrium Gen 5
  • System Storage TS1140 tape drive
