IBM LTFS Enterprise Combined With GPFS

For scalable, low-cost, file-based storage for managing large amounts of data

IBM LTFS Edition (LTFS EE) combines with General Parallel File System (GPFS) delivers scalable, low-cost, file-based storage solution for managing large amounts of data.

New bundled solution combining IBM LTFS EE, GPFS, and a preconfigured System x server provides scalable, low cost, file-based storage environments for long-term retention of data. These new solution bundles, available in two capacity options, are designed to be easy to order and integrate for rapid deployment and accelerated ROI.

Key prerequisites
IBM LTFS EE software is generally supported with these OSs, but some functional enhancements are only supported with select OSs:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.4 x86_64
  • SLES 11 SP1 x86_64
  • SLES 11 SP2 x86_64

Bundled solutions require:

  • xSeries server (two options based on capacity requirements)
  • IBM GPFS
  • IBM LTFS EE
  • Supported OS

LTFS EE supports mixed environments and any combination of these drive types can be used in an LTFS EE environment and the supported media respectively.

Following IBM drives are supported by LTFS EE:

  • LTO Ultrium Gen 6
  • LTO Ultrium Gen 5
  • System Storage TS1140 tape drive
