DataNumen Disk Image 1.5 Software for Data Managers or Forensics Professionals

DataNumen, Inc. has released Disk Image v. 1.5, a free Windows program that creates a disk image from any drive on the computer, and allows users to restore that image to the drive.

The software clones the drive’s data byte by byte. In addition to facilitating the restoration of data back to the cloned drive, version 1.5 reduces the amount of time that it takes to create the clone.

Drives become less reliable with age. Bad sectors lead to damaged data files that can no longer be accessed reliably. Many data recovery tools attempt to recover damaged files directly on the damaged drive. Often this results in additional complications. Disk Image offers a secure and reliable solution. The software helps data administrators and forensic professionals create a clone of the damaged drive. The cloned data is then moved to a second computer where it can be analyzed, without risking further damage to the original drive.

Many of DataNumen’s file recovery applications work with the cloned backup image that Disk Image creates. In addition to allowing users to examine and repair data on a second computer, the version lets users deploy the cloned information, to reload data back onto the damaged drive or onto a replacement drive.

Disk Image lets forensic experts safely analyze any Windows drive. Rather than risk making changes to the HDD, the forensic professionals can clone the entire drive and work with the clone on a second PC. In addition to making the e-Discovery and forensic analysis work safer, Disk Image makes the task quicker. The software eliminates the need for forensic experts to physically remove the damaged drive and install it in another computer.

In addition, Disk Image can replace damaged sectors with user-specified data. The software can clone multiple disks and drives in a single batch operation.
