Bluelock Enhances Customer Portal with Capacity and Cost Analysis

For Recovery-as-a-Service

Bluelock LLC, a certified VMware vCloud Datacenter provider of virtual datacenters hosted in the public cloud, announces the availability of enhancements to its customer portal, Bluelock Portfolio, that provide detailed capacity and cost analysis for its Recovery-as-a-Service solution.

Bluelock,Recovery-as-a-Service

Bluelock has been providing Recovery-as-a-Service (RaaS), or cloud-based DR, solutions since early 2013 and found that customers need to be able to tightly manage replication costs and failover site capacity to keep their critical applications fully protected from disruption.

In order to enable customers in this way, Bluelock improved its customer portal, Bluelock Portfolio. Originally created for cloud infrastructure-as-a-service, it now includes critical visibility and functionality to enable management of VM protection group replication, failover checkpoints and capacity at the cloud DR site.

According to Gartner (Hype Cycle for BC Management and IT DR Management, 2013, John P. Morency and Roberta J. Witty, 31 July 2013.), “The ability to manage recovery service levels in an automated, repeatable and timely manner is becoming increasingly critical for many organizations. As Web-based applications support more business-critical process activities, managed recovery service levels will become an important foundation for improving business resiliency.

We are thrilled to bring an unprecedented level of visibility and control to the DR market,” said Ben Miller, product solutions director, Bluelock. “Bluelock Portfolio has helped our cloud infrastructure customers make better business decisions about their resource utilization and our RaaS customers now get to experience similar DR-specific capabilities so they too can manage capacity while keeping costs in check.”

Features and Functionality of Bluelock Portfolio for RaaS:

  • Planned versus actual VM replication counts and storage consumption
  • Visibility of committed, guaranteed capacity at the DR site versus actual resources required for successful failover
  • Number of available checkpoints from which to failover in a disaster scenario
  • Detailed graphs and statistics to pinpoint what might cause a replication group to go out of its preferred RPO
  • Overall cost analysis of protected virtual protection groups down to the VM level by resource type: storage, memory, compute or bandwidth
