Actifio Application Data Management for Cloud and Distributed Enterprises

Actifio Inc. announced new platform enhancements to speed enterprise adoption of the cloud for distributed enterprises built on Oracle Corp. The new features increase the speed and reduce the complexity of managing enterprise data, helping organizations move critical infrastructure to the cloud faster.

 Latest enhancements include:

• Agile Database Development – New capture and management extensions for Oracle RMAN, applications, pluggable DBs, In-memory DBs, and Oracle RAC

• Scalable Oracle Management – Advanced technology to protect, manage, and provision databases up to 100’s of terabytes

• Cloud Extensibility – Native support for 12C multi-tenancy, enabling next-generation Oracle apps in public clouds (i.e. Amazon) and more than 30 Actifio-powered cloud service providers globally

• Intelligent Log Management – Actifio LogSmarttechnology providing automated point-in-time log rolling for instant point-in-time provisioning

These new capabilities extend the deep integration of Oracle and Actifio’s data virtualization platform for superior database management including reduction in unnecessary copies of data that cost businesses valuable time and resources. New automation technologies have been benchmarked provisioning R/W 20TB, Oracle 12c database clones directly to 20 individual developers in fewer than 10 minutes, without consuming any incremental storage. Additionally, the application data was easily migrated directly into the public cloud – all from a single SLA.

By deploying Actifio, Oracle customers have more robust capabilities within their private/hybrid cloud environments. The current database management approach in Oracle environments involves complex, expensive infrastructure silos built with separate point tools for backup, DR, BC, test and development, analytics, compliance or other applications. This results in businesses storing and managing up to 120 copies of databases, increasing costs and operational complexity and ultimately slowing development and test cycles.

Workflow functionality combined with roles-based self-service allows database administrators and developers to schedule and automate the complete data flow, without infrastructure delays. RESTful APIs provides integration with a variety of ISVs – -for example, masking software to protect sensitive data.
